VISX Laser WavePrint Map

The VISX WavePrint Map is derived from technology first developed to correct distortions of light waves from space. This allowed researchers to accurately view images of stars and planets.

The WavePrint Map uses the same technology to measure light waves as they travel through your eye. This technology provides a precise and more detailed analysis of your vision.

Like a fingerprint, the corneas of your eyes are unique to you. The WaveScan™ measures the way light travels through your eye and compares it to the way light would travel through a "perfect" eye. This determines the refractive errors or aberrations of the eye. Your eye doctor will use this information to plan a personalized treatment for you, or screen for those that shouldn't have laser eye surgery.

The VISX WavePrint Map is a brightly colored diagram of your vision. The different colors show your eye doctor how light is moving through your eye—for example, red shows areas in which light moves quickly, blue shows areas in which light is moving slowly.

The WavePrint Map allows your eye doctor to accurately assess whether you're a good candidate for laser eye correction.

Anyone who is considering laser vision correction should obtain a WavePrint Map as the first step.
