VISX Laser Variable Spot Scanning (VSS) Variable Spot Scanning or VSS is an exclusive VISX® laser technology that provides flexibility in more personalized laser eye correction. VSS allows for a larger treatment area. This offers the eye doctor greater flexibility in developing a more personalized laser vision correction procedure, when pupil size may be a consideration. The VISX laser utilizes the VSS technology in creating a blend zone in myopic (nearsighted) patients receiving ≥ -1.0 diopter of vision correction. The advantage of exclusive Visx SmartBeam™ technology is that it adjusts beam size according to treatment, minimizing the amount of corneal tissue removed and results in a faster treatment.
