LASIK Eye Surgery Consultation
Your doctor can usually perform a full evaluation when you come in for your initial LASIK eye surgery consultation. This will determine whether you are eligible for LASIK eye surgery. Your doctor then will discuss with you the results of your evaluation and let you know if you are a good candidate.
At your consultation, your eyes will be photographed and a computerized map (corneal topography) will be created. This map will assess the shape of your cornea, and is one of the many diagnostic tools the doctor will use to help plan your laser eye surgery procedure. No one has a perfectly rounded cornea, and the topographer will display the corneal irregularities and the actual steepness or flatness that the surgeon must correct.
Wave front technology will provide a detailed analysis of your entire visual system. Your doctor uses this information to verify that you are an appropriate laser eye surgery candidate and formulate a vision correction plan specifically for your eyes.
