Bellevue LASIK Eye Surgery Staff

Your LASIK surgeon (ophthalmologist) and your optometrist are trained health care professionals experienced in the pre-operative, operative and post-operative management of ASA and LASIK eye surgery. The Clinical Assistants - COMT, COT and COA, are extensively trained in the diagnosis and treatment of refractive eye problems and ophthalmic medical assistance, and act under the supervision of the ophthalmologist.

LASIK Surgeon (MD)

Your LASIK (refractive) surgeon has an M.D. degree and is highly experienced in the medical and surgical management of refractive eye errors and diseases, such as astigmatism, myopia (nearsighted), hyperopia (farsighted), and presbyopia.

Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT)

Your COMT (Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist) has been certified after two-year training program through JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) with additional three years of experience under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. The COMT must be re-certified every three years after receiving credits for continuing education. Your COMT is a highly trained medical technologist in pre-operative and post-operative care for LASIK eye surgery. Your COMT is in direct communication with your LASIK surgeon.

Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)

Your COT (Certified Ophthalmic Technician) has been certified after a two-year training program through JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology). Your COT must be re-certified every three years after receiving credits for continuing education and works under the supervision of the ophthalmologist. They are trained in pre-operative and post-operative care for LASIK eye surgery and are in direct communication with your LASIK surgeon.

Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)

Your COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) has been certified by JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) and is trained in ophthalmic medical assisting. Your COA is re-certified every three years after receiving credits for continuing education.
