The Day of Your Laser Eye Surgery
Serving Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, Olympia, and Tacoma, WA
You may feel nervous, anxious or excited before your laser eye surgery. This is a completely natural, normal response. It always helps if you feel prepared and to that end, here are some pointers to make your surgery go smoothly.
- Please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne on your surgery date. Please do not use any hair products that contain alcohol such as hair spray or mousse. These can alter the effect of the laser on your eyes.
- Please pre-arrange transportation for after your surgery. It will not be safe for you to drive yourself.
- Please be aware that after laser eye surgery your eyes will be irritated and light-sensitive. This usually dissipates within 24 hours after surgery.
- Avoid alcohol 24 hours before and 48 hours after laser eye surgery, as it tends to dehydrate the tissues and alter the laser’s effect on your eyes.
- Wear comfortable clothing. The operating suite is kept at a cool temperature so you may want to dress warmly. Avoid clothing such as wool that might generate lint in the surgical suite.
- In consideration of others, and to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible, please do not bring children to the office. The duration of your visit will be approximately two (2) hours.
