The Consultation

Consultation

We provide the most comprehensive Cataract and Lens Implant consultation process in the region, and we do everything we can to make it as comfortable as possible.

  • Your first appointment will take approximately two hours. Both eyes will be dilated for complete exams, retinal evaluations and other diagnostic procedures. Dilation causes sensitivity to light and a temporary inability to see well at close range. You should arrange to have someone who can drive you home.
  • We evaluate all of your eyes’ characteristics from overall health to condition of the lens and retina. We check and verify your prescription, the shape and health of your corneas, evaluate the presence and extent of cataracts and determine precisely what vision solutions will be most suited to your eyes and your lifestyle.
  • Finally, we will counsel you on which of the current artificial lens (IOL) options will be best for meeting your vision expectations.

Most of our patients find the examination and consultation process enlightening and fascinating. We take pride in answering every question you might have. Call today to schedule your consultation.

The exam typically includes a complete review of overall eye and systemic health. A comprehensive exam is usually performed to rule out other eye conditions and includes dilation to evaluate the retina. Once the best procedure to improve your vision has been determined, a staff member will schedule your procedure date and next appointment.

A comprehensive series of measurements done during this visit will measure your eyes and supply us with all the data needed to ensure the best possible outcome.

Surgery Day

You should arrive approximately 2 hours before your surgery. If you are nervous, relaxation medication will be provided while your doctor explains each step of the procedure to you. The actual procedure will take between 10 minutes to 20 minutes per eye and you will not be able to drive immediately after the procedure.

Post-Operative Care

Included in the cost of your procedure are a series of post-operative exams, the first of which will be on the day following your procedure.
